I love making chili. It's a go to meal for me. Over the years I have created many different types. This is a lean healthy choice with low sodium and pretty basic ingredients. Leave out the wine or add more it still tastes great! I always serve cornbread, corn chips and hot dogs so the kids can make chili dogs if they want to...Yum!

Ingredients For spicy turkey chili

  • 1 lb
    ground turkey breast
  • 1 md
    yellow onion
  • 1 md
    green bell pepper
  • 1 md
    red bell pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    mexican chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • 2 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    red pepper flake
  • 1 Tbsp
    mccormick chili mix **optional
  • 1 can
    rotel tomatoes & green chilis
  • 1 can
    diced green chilis
  • 1 can
    fire roasted tomatoes
  • 1 can
    chili beans
  • 1 can
    red kidney beans
  • 1 can
    white navy beans
  • 1/4 c
    red wine
  • 1 c
    water
  • pinch
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1/3 jar
    pickled jalapeno ** optional

How To Make spicy turkey chili

    In large skillet brown ground turkey or brown in crockpot on high for 25-30 minutes. Meanwhile dice all veggies and open all canned items.

    Add ground turkey, diced veggies, canned items, seasonings and liquids to large stock pot and simmer for 2 hours on medium heat. Or Add all ingredients to crockpot and cook on low 4-6 hours. This gets better the longer you cook it.

    **McCormick Chili Mix was used since I ran out of chili powder. **chopped jalapeno peppers to make it a bit more spicy is optional **The kids always top their chili with sourcream & chives & Fritos Corn Chips These tips kick up the flavor profile a bit.
