Our family's version of the Sloppy Joe using ground turkey in lieu of ground beef.

Ingredients For sloppy tjs

  • FILLING
  • 1 lb
    ground turkey
  • 1-2 lg
    white onions (chopped)
  • 24 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove
    fresh garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp
    yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    brown sugar
  • BUNS
  • 1 pkg
    whole grain wheat buns
  • butter

How To Make sloppy tjs

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • 2
    In a large saucepan, add a bit of olive or canola oil, maybe about a teaspoon. Add your onions and turkey. Brown turkey and be sure to break the meat up into small bits.

    Once meat/onion mixture cooked, add remaining ingredients and simmer on medium to low heat for about 15 minutes until fully incorporated.

    Butter buns and place butter side up on cookie sheet. PLace in oven for about 5 minutes or until desired crispness is reached.
