basting a turkey all night is for the birds . rub thawed turkey with melted butter, stuff it with onion, celery and potato. salt and pepper bird. place in a covered container, add 5-6 cups hot water, cover pan with foil and put lid on pan.
preheat oven to 500 degrees, place pan in oven. bake @ 500 degrees for i hour cut oven off leave in oven overnight.
do not open door!
a large bird requires extra cooking time. turn oven back on in the morning for 1/2 to 1 hour @ 350 degrees . depending on size of bird.
