As a child I was told that this sandwich was invented by a young society gal in Havana, Cuba. The story goes that one late night after dancing for hours at a party she stopped at an all-night cafe and asked if the chef would prepare a sandwich to her specifications. When they agreed, this is what she asked for and after that it was forever known as Elena Ruz, her name.

These can be made into dainty finger sandwiches and are especially great after Thanksgiving when you have so much leftover turkey.

Ingredients

2
bread slices or buns
cream cheese to taste
strawberry jam or preserves to taste
fresh roasted turkey slices or even leftover turkey
1 Tbsp
butter or margarine
OPTIONAL: YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE THE STRAWBERRY JAM/PRESERVES FOR CRANBERRY RELISH, TASTES DELICIOUS AS WELL.

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Smear a generous amount of cream cheese on one slice and the strawberry jam or preserves on the other.
2
Place the turkey slices in the middle and close.
3
Warm a skillet on the stove.
4
Smear the outsides of the bread with butter.
5
Toast the buttered sandwich until golden on both sides.
6
Serve and enjoy!

this sounds so good...wonder if it could be changed up & use cranberry relish instead of the strawberry preserves???? hmmm, it's still good as is, though! ♥
