2 Tbspworcestershire sauce, reduced sodium

1/4 tspsalt & pepper

2 lbground pork (not sausage)

2 ccheddar cheese, shredded

1 lgonion, cut into 1" pieces

4 clovegarlic, minced

1 Tbspolive oil, extra virgin

1 1/2 tspchili powder
-
1/4 cketchup
-
2 Tbspdark brown sugar
-
1 Tbspapple cider vinegar
-
1 Tbspsoy sauce, low sodium
-
1 Tbspcoarse grain mustard

6hamburger buns, split & toasted
How To Make onion cheddar pork burgers

1In a large bowl, combine worcestershire, salt & pepper. Add pork; mix well. Shape prok mixture into 12 - 4" patties. Sprinkle 1/3 C cheese on each of 6 patties; top each with remaining patty. Pinch edges of top & bottom patties together, sealing well. Cover & chill for at least 1 hour.

2CARAMELIZED ONION SAUCE: In large skillet, cook onion & garlic in hot oil over medium heat, about 10 minutes or until onion is golden, stirring occasionally. Add chili powder, cook & stir for 1 minute. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce & mustard. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 2 minutes. Cool to room temperature. TIP: Can be made in advance. Transfer cooled mixture to an airtight container, cover & chill for up to 2 weeks. Bring to room temperature before serving.

3CHARCOAL GRILL: Grill patties on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 14 - 18 minutes or until done, turning once halfway through grilling. GAS GRILL: Preheat grill. Reduce heat to medium. Place patties on grill rack over heat. Cover & grill as above.

4Serve burgers in toasted buns topped with caramelized onion sauce.
