I have never actually made or eaten this recipe as it was just handed down to me for my estranged grandmother.

Ingredients For ham in a can

  • 3 or 5 lb
    canned ham
  • to taste
    garlic salt
  • 1/2 c
    dark corn syrup
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c
    bbq sauce
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c
    orange juice, fresh or pineapple juice

How To Make ham in a can

    Preheat oven to 375. Remove the key from the can. With a beer can opener, punch holes aroun top edge of can every inch or so, all the way around the can. Place ham in oven and bake for an hour. Remove from over and pour juice out of can through holes in lid. DO NOT OPEN THE CAN. Mix together corn syrup, bbq sauce or substitution of orange juice or pineapple juice and garlic salt. Pour this mixture into the holes in the lid of the can. Bake another 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Remove from oven, pour off sauce and open can.

    As a side note, I used brown sugar dissolved in pinapple juice but no corn syrup. Mmmmmmmmm good!!!
