Christmas in July? You Bet!!! Typically, we eat ham at Christmas... and the veggies in this sandwich are red and green... thus the name of this sammie....

I created this recipe for Sherri Logan's weekly contest! The two mystery ingredients were: Country Ham and Green Beans.

I think this is a nice way to use left overs..... or just a great new sandwich anytime!

Ingredients

BREAD

1 large
hard roll or chunk of french bread

FILLINGS

1 Tbsp
honey mustard
1 - 8 slice
country ham (amount of ham depends on the thickness you choose)
2 slice
swiss cheese
6
italian green beans (steamed and drained) (can use any type of green bean)
3 - 4
strips of red bell pepper

Step-By-Step

Step 1 Direction Photo

1Trim the Italian green beans, steam about 5 minutes until tender yet bright green in color.

Place on outdoor grill to get a little carmelization and grill marks.

Step 2 Direction Photo

2Put your cooked ham on the grill (or use a skillet indoors). Heat through and turn over after a minute or so (just to heat and get grill marks or if in skillet to brown a bit). Repeat, and add the cheese!

Step 3 Direction Photo

3Cut fresh red bell pepper into strips (can grill first or use as is)

Step 4 Direction Photo

4Prepare the bread by cutting hard roll in half and spreading with the honey mustard.

(If you are using French Bread, cut the length of bread you need for your sandwich and cut in half).

Step 5 Direction Photo

5Place ham with cheese side down on the bun. Distribute the green beans and red bell pepper.

Step 6 Direction Photo

6Be sure to enjoy!

7And make enough for everyone... these are great!
