Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt & pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted, cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 8 ounces bulk pork breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

How To Make cheesy sausage balls

  • Step 1
    Adjust over rack to middle position & preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Pulse flour, baking powder, salt & peppers in a food processor until combined, about 3 pulses. Add butter & pulse until coarse meal like, about 12 pulses. Add sausage & cheese & pulse until combined, about 8 pulses. Transfer mixture to a bowl & stir in buttermilk until combined.
  • Step 3
    Using a small ice cream scooper, a ball dough at a time into 1 1/4" balls & place, evenly spaced, on the baking sheet. Bake 20 - 22 minutes or until golden brown, rotating sheet half way through baking time.
  • Step 4
    Transfer sheet to wire rack & cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
