Jo Anne's Notes:

This roast pork is so delicious, especially when you are having won ton soup on a cold evening. It is also very good with chinese hot mustard, as a side dish.

Directions

1
In a large bowl, mix together the rice wine, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, hoisin sauce and chinese five-spice powder.
2
Rub pork belly with marinade mixture and marinate for 2 to 3 hours in the refrigerator.
3
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
4
Rub excess marinade of the pork belly, not all of it. Place the pork belly in a roasting pan and roast it for 40 - 45 minutes.
5
Flip the pork belly over after 20 minutes and brushing honey on the surface.
6
The pork belly is done when the outsides begin to crisp and blacken and the center of the pork belly feels as firm as a tight fist.
7
Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes then transfer to a cutting board and slice into thin pieces.
8
Serve with rice or noodles, or with won ton soup.

This sounds sooo good. I don't care for the flavor of 5 spice powder. Do u know of another spice u could use? Also I have never seen pork belly sold here in California...a good sub would be? maybe boneless pork loin?

Maybe anise spice? Pork loin is probably too lean, the flavor won't be there. Maybe center-cut pork chops with some fat on it? LOL! XOXOX Jo

No not really, some people are not very nice, but that's the balance, oh well . . . I live on the island of Oahu, more toward the country side. I wouldn't want to live in the main city of Honolulu, too much people, too much traffic, too much everything. I would like to further into the country side. Thank You for your heart-warming comments, and I hope that this will help. XOXOX Jo

HAHAHA! You made me laugh out loud, Jo Anne. I am really getting hungry with all the beautiful meat posts tonight, however, I have laryngitis and will not probably move any further than the computer. I have to pick up the five spices from an International store tomorrow and then I will probably cook it...LOL
