MY BEST FRIEND MOVED TO THE COUNTRY,SHE IS MORE LIKE A SISTER,BUT SHE SURE LOVED MY LASAGNE.EVERY TIME I MAKE THIS ,IT REMINDS ME OF HER.THIS IS FOR YOU LAURENE (TINA) AS SHE IS SO FONDLY CALLED.

Ingredients

1-pound each tomatoes

8 oz. each tomato sauce

oregano

4 oz. mushrooms, drained
1/2 c
olive oil
2 c
minced onions
2 clove
garlic, crushed
2 lb
ground chuck
2 Tbsp
accent

16. oz. tomato paste
1
tomato paste can of water
1 lb
lasagne noodles
2
egg whites ,slightly beaten
1 1/2 lb
ricotta cheese
1 1/2 c
grated parmesan cheese
1 lb
mozzarella cheese ,thinly sliced

Step-By-Step

1COMBINE TOMATOES, TOMATO SAUCE, 1T.sugar,salt, oregano, pepper, onion salt ,and mushrooms :simmer uncovered for 10.min

2pour olive oil into heavy skillet and saute onions, garlic and meat. add accent,tomato paste and water.

3in a large heavy pan, combine tomato mixture with meat mixture:simmer slowly 2-3 hours or until thick

4meanwhile cook lasagne noodles in salted water and drain,

5combine egg whites,remaining 1T.sugar and ricotta cheese.

6in a large deep casserole: layer noodles,ricotta cheese mixture,meat sauce, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese, repeat layers. cover casserole and bake at 350* for 1 hour .uncover for last 15 min. of baking, let stand for 15 min. before serving.
