Tangy tomato cream sauce w/ ziti

My dad taught me how to make a subtle yet delicious tomato cream sauce for pasta. You can use any pasta, I like it with ziti.

Ingredients

2 Tbsp
olive oil, extra virgin
1
onion, diced
1 tsp
minced garlic
1
14.5 oz can italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 Tbsp
dried basil
3/4 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
dried oregano
1/4 tsp
each, salt and pepper
1/2 c
light cream
1 Tbsp
butter
12 oz
ziti pasta or other pasta

Step-By-Step

1Cook pasta as directed and drain. return to pot. In saucepan, saute onion and garlic in oil over medium heat.
2Add tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Boil gently for 15 mins.. Remove from heat. Stir in light cream and butter.
3Pour sauce over pasta, toss to coat evenly.
