This is a great Italian recipe I got from my Polish friend Jennifer! Of course I added my own twist to make it even better. It's easy and delicious. On Christmas Eve I have made it for my family and added shrimp. You can also add chicken. You will be a hit with minimal effort. Enjoy!

Ingredients For penne a la vodka

  • 4 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1
    diced onion
  • 28 oz
    can whole or crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed red pepper
  • 8 oz
    can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    vodka
  • 4 oz
    heavy cream
  • 1/4 lb
    prosciutto ham
  • 1 clove
    crushed garlic
  • 1 lb
    penne pasta, cooked

How To Make penne a la vodka

  • 1
    Melt butter in a sauce pan. Saute onion until translucent. Add minced garlic. Do not burn garlic.

    Add tomatoes (whole or crushed depending on your taste), tomato sauce, red pepper, vodka and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Remove from the heat and add prosciutto and cream. Serve immediately over penne pasta. Serve with grated parmigiana cheese if desired.
