Ingredients For noodle & cabbage casserole

  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 lg
    onion, sliced
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 lb
    cabbage, green, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 8 oz. pkg
    egg noodles, no-yolk variety, cooked & drained
  • 1 1/4 c
    milk
  • 5 lg
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    swiss cheese, shredded

How To Make noodle & cabbage casserole

    Melt butter in a lare nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion, salt, celery seed, sugar & pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden, 15 - 20 minutes.

    Remove onions from skillet, add cabbage & water; cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until softened & golden around edges.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 2 qt baking dish. Mix cabbage, onions & egg noodles; mix well & place in dish,

    Beat milk & eggs, then stir in cheese. Pour over mixture; cover. Bake 20 minutes. Uncover; bake 20 minutes more or until set.
