I found that if you can't get kids to eat spinch then this is a dish for you.. This dish is easy and really good.

Ingredients For layered pasta casserole

  • 8 oz
    uncooked penne pasta
  • 8 oz
    mild italan sausage, casing removed
  • 8 oz
    ground beef
  • 1 jar
    ( about 26 oz ) pasta sauce
  • 1 pkg
    ( 10 oz ) frozen , thawed,chopped spinach ( squeezed dry )
  • 1 c
    ricotta cheese
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese divided
  • 1/2 c
    grated prmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped fresh basil or 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How To Make layered pasta casserole

    Preheat oen to 350. spray 13x9" baking dish with nonstick spray. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain, transfer to prepared dish.

    In a large skillet heat over med-high heat, sausage and ground beef, cook until browned, stirring to break up meat.Drain fat off meat, Add pasta sauce and mix well. Add half meat sauce to pasta , toss to coat.

    Combine spinach, ricotta, egg, 1 cup mozzarella, parmesan.basil and salt in med bowl. spoon small mounds of spinach mixture over pasta mixture, spread evenly with back of spoon . top with remaining meat sauce, sprinkle with remaining 1 cup mozzarella. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
