A friend of mine gave me this recipe years ago, and every time I make it, I get raves about how good it is.
I actually added the ricotta cheese portion; the original recipe is just for the mozzarella cheese with the sauce. I've had it both ways, and it's delicious either way!

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb
ground beef (1/2 beef & 1/2 italian sausage)
1 large
canned tomatoes (your choice)
1-12oz. can(s)
tomatoe paste
1 Tbsp
oregano
1 1/2 tsp
each garlic & basil
3/4 c
onion
salt & pepper to taste
2 tsp
sugar
1 lb
mozzarella

Step-By-Step

1Brown meat & onions. Add all but mozzarella and simmer for at least a half hour. (The longer the better)
2MEANWHILE MIX:::
1 SM CARTON RICOTTA CHEESE
1 EGG
1/2 tsp. SALT
1/2 CUP PARMESAN CHEESE
2 TBLS. PARSLEY
3Cook lasagna noodles (9)
Layer noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, sauce: repeat ending with mozzarella
4Bake @ 325* for 20-30 minutes.
