on the table in about an hour , add a simple salad & some bread or rolls & dinner is done ( even better reheated the next day )

Ingredients

1 lb
dry elbow pasta ( cooked but firm )
1-1 1/4 lb
ground beef ( or meat loaf mix )
1 can(s)
campbells condensed tomato soup
1 jar(s)
beef gravy (heinz)
1 Tbsp
"better than bullion" beef base
1 can(s)
petite diced tomatoes drained ( drain but keep liquid )
2 Tbsp
tomato paste
1 medium
yellow or white onion diced medium
1 medium
carrot peeled and shredded
2 large
ribs celery diced medium
1/2
red and 1/2 green med/small bell peppers diced medium
1/4 c
red wine (optional ) you can sub. the liquid drained from diced toms.
2 tsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
hot sauce of choice( i prefer franks for this recipe )
1 tsp
1 heavy tea. each dried thyme & dried basil
2 Tbsp
olive oil ( or any oil )
2 Tbsp
+ 1 heavy pinch salt(kosher)
black pepper to taste
grated romano cheese as desired

Step-By-Step

1bring pasta water to a boil with 2 Tbl. salt but don't add pasta until sauce is simmering for last 15 min.
2in high sided 12" saute pan over med.high heat saute peppers, celery ,carrot and onion with a good pinch of salt and 2 Tbl. of olive oil until onion is translucent(about 5 min.).
3add burger and cook untill done thru and browned slightly(about 10 min.).
4add Tom. paste and beef base & cook for about 3 min.
5add wine and let cook another 2 min.
6add diced toms. Thyme & Basil , soup , beef gravy , Worcestershire & hot sauce.
7reduce heat and simmer gently for 15 min.-
8after sauce has simmered 5 min. add pasta to boiling water, boil until almost but not quite done (time depends on how soft you usually cook your pasta but about 10 min.).
9drain (but don't rinse) pasta and add to simmering sauce
10simmer for another 5 min. stiring often
11if sauce seems to dry add retained tomato liquid one Tbl at a time until sauce is as wet looking as you like.
12serve with fresh ground black pepper & grated Romano cheese to taste
