I have been wondering for a long time how to make a quick penne ala vodka sauce, semi homemade, and when I was in a favorite butcher shop a few weeks ago I liked what i saw and asked what they put in theirs. they let me in on a little secret...jar sauce, but that was all they told me. Well I tried every brand out there, however, they were all horrible. So I said no great chef tells all their secrets and off I went to make my own...with a little hint... please share and enjoy
boil water and cook pasta until just under al dente
chop onion into small diced pieces. melt butter in pot large enough to hold all ingredients for sauce. put onions in and saute together until cooked through. add jar sauce and stir. add heavy cream and stir in little by little until you attain the color you want for the vodka sauce. add grated cheese and stir until it is blended well. add pepper and stir in completely.
drain pasta when done boiling and place 1-2 ladle fulls of sauce in pasta bowl. stir around. and add more until desired creaminess. top with more grated cheese and enjoy.
