Ingredients For filipino spaghetti

  • 4 slice
    bacon
  • 4
    hot dogs cut into chunks
  • 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 tsp
    each salt and pepper
  • 1 md
    onion chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 3 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1 c
    red wine
  • 1/2 c
    banana ketchup (filipino ketchup)
  • 1 l
    can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp
    fish sauce
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 8 oz
    spaghetti
  • fresh cilantro for garnish

How To Make filipino spaghetti

    Cook the bacon in a large saute pan. Remove from pan and drain on paper towel. Add the hot dogs to the bacon grease and brown. Remove from pan and set aside.

    Add the beef with salt and pepper and brown. Add the onions and garlic and saute until onions are softened. Add the tomato paste and mix well. Add the wine and scrap up the bits from pan. Let cook until reduced by half. Add the tomatoes, banana ketchup, fish sauce, oregano and brown sugar.

    Let simmer until thickened about 20 minutes. Add the hotdogs back to pan. Meanwhile cook the spaghetti and drain. Serve with sauce over spaghetti sprinkle with crumbled bacon and garnish with cilantro
