When I first got my crockpot years ago, I bought a Mable Hoffman crockpot cookbook. We love this recipe because it tastes like pasta stroganoff, and it only takes 2-3 hours to cook, so you can start it later in the day. I'm sure you could leave the wine out, but I love the flavor that wine gives a dish

Ingredients For crockpot shell casserole

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1
    small onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 c
    hot water
  • 2 tsp
    beef bouillon granules
  • 2 Tbsp
    red wine
  • 6 oz
    large shell shaped pasta
  • 1
    2 ounce can of sliced mushrooms drained
  • 1 c
    sour cream

How To Make crockpot shell casserole

    In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until red color disappears
  • 2
    stir in salt, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce and flour
  • 3
    add water, bouillon and wine--mix well
  • 4
    cover and cook on low 2-3 hours
  • 5
    meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions and drain
  • 6
    add cooked pasta, mushrooms and sour crean to the slow cooker--stir to mix ingredients

    turn control to high.

    cover and cook on high for 10-15 minutes
