This is a family favorite and great for potluck too. I created this on my own, feel free to play around and add your own spices and meats! Not for those on a diet!

  • 7-8 slice
    bacon, cooked
  • 1
    small onion chopped
  • 2 c
penne pasta more or less depending on how many people
  • 1 pkg
    skinless smoked sausage
  • 1
    tomato
  • garlic powder to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp
parsley flakes or fresh if you have it
  • 1 c
    parmesan cheese grated or shredded

How To Make american pasta

  • 1
In a large pot boil water and cook pasta until al dente, drain and set aside
  • 2
In a large saucepan or dutch oven, (big enough to fit all the pasta)fry bacon. I cut them into bite size pieces first. Remove cooked bacon and set aside. Save all the bacon drippings.
  • 3
Chop onion to your liking, I just give it a rough chop, I like onion. Saute the onion in the bacon drippings until soft.
  • 4
Cut the smoked sausage into bite size peices. You do not need to use both links if you are cooking for a smaller crowd. Chop and remove seed from the tomato into fine pieces. (You can leave the tomato out if you want, my husband isn't a fan but I am!)

Add the pasta to the bacon drippings and onions, stir and coat all the pasta with the drippings. Add the bacon pieces, sausage, tomato, garlic powder, salt pepper, parsley, and parmesan cheese. Before serving top with more cheese. Enjoy!
