"Our family loves the "feel good" meal of grilled cheese and tomato soup, but I was looking for something a little more, shall we say, fancy? I came up with this recipe when I had some leftover dip mix still in the refrigerator and thought it might taste good between potato bread and toasted. After a couple of enhancements the Gourmet Grilled Cheese was born. Enjoy!"

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
It's fun to see how people can take a basic sandwich and make it into something extraordinary! The blend of cheeses is lovely in this grilled cheese. I really liked the chives in the sandwich. I chose to use Hawaiian bread and it was perfect. Make a batch of the cheese mix to keep in your fridge. Then you'll have a quick & easy sandwich!

Ingredients

4 oz
cream cheese
2/3 c
mayonnaise
1 c
sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 c
grated parmesan cheese
1/2 c
chives, finely chopped
1/2 c
ham, finely chopped
1 clove
crushed garlic
1/2 tsp
lawry's season salt
16 slice
potato or hawaiian bread
butter for spreading

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Butter one side of each slice of bread
2
Combine all remaining ingredients and spread filling between two buttered slices of bread, butter on the outside.
3
Fry in pan over med to med hi heat until bread is golden brown and filling has melted.
4
Remove from heat and immediately cut sandwich on the diagonal.
