Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

1 lb
dry red kidney beans
1 tsp
bacon grease
1 large
onion, chopped
3 stalk(s)
celery, chopped
6 clove
garlic, minced
2 tsp
onion powder
2 tsp
garlic powder
1 lb
ham hocks
1 lb
smoked sausage, sliced
2-3 Tbsp
creole seasoning (i use tony chachere's)
3
bay leaves
hot cooked white rice

Directions Step-By-Step

Soak beans overnight.

Rinse beans and put in the crock pot and cover with water. Add all chopped celery and onion, ham hocks, garlic & onion powder, creole seasoning, bacon grease bay leaves. Turn slow cooker on high.

Cook beans for 3-4 hours. Remove ham hocks when tender, chop up usable meat and add smoked sausage.

Turn the heat to low and cook for another hour or so until beans are tender and liquid has thickened.

Ladle red beans over hot cooked white rice.
