Some recipes allow you to substitute or omit an ingredient but not so here esp. so with the Sour Cream, it's a very important step in achieving the characteristic flavor. Credit for this scrumptious dish goes to Savella Stechishin of Traditional Ukrainian Cookery

1/2 cup

and coat with the seasoned flour
2
Lightly brown in the butter and place into a roasting pan
3
Add the boiling water, cover and cook in a 300 degree oven for 1 hour
4
Add the veggies and seasoning and continue cooking 1 to 11/2 or till tender
5
Blend the flour with the sour cream* and add to the chicken the last 1/2 hour of cooking
6
* I find blending a tablespoon of the hot broth to the blended sour cream and flour helps eliminate curdling and repeat the addition of hot broth until it pours nicely.
