Homestyle Chicken and Dumplings

homemade chicken stock (see my recipe)
the meat from one roasted chicken(see my recipe)
FOR THE DUMPLINGS
chopped parsley or cilantro (optional)
melt butter in your stockpot, then saute your onions and minced garlic, until slightly transparent.
add flour to make a roux, slowly add milk, allowing to thicken between increments.
add chicken, and start adding stock, about a cup-full at a time, and allow to thicken between each addition.
once soup is built, allow to come to a slow boil, and start dumplings.
To make the dumplings: measure flour into a large mixing bowl, add parsley/cilantro here if tou wanted it, mix well.
add baking powder and salt, mix well, then add oil. after oil is added, mix water gradually, until you get to your preferred consistancy.
while soup is boiling, drop dumpling batter by rounded spoonful, cook 4-8 minutes, depending on how big you make them.
salt and pepper to taste, allow to cool for a moment, then serve.
