I got this from my sister who got it from a dear sweet lady who had it in her family for years My family loves this and I have to make it often.I have also done this with onion soup just omit the onion and saute the mushrooms add broth and then the onion soup

Ingredients For salisbury steaks (homemade)

  • 1 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1/3 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt and pepper each
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 lg
    onion chopped using half
  • BROTH
  • 1 can
    10 and 1/2 oz of beef broth
  • 1 can
    4 oz mushrooms drained
  • 1/2
    onion the other half
  • THICKENER
  • 2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    water

How To Make salisbury steaks (homemade)

  • 1
    mix beef,bread crumbs.1/2 of onion,salt,pepper and the egg till well blended. shape into oval patties and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes take out of pan and drain,leaving a little grease

    in same pan saute the rest of the onion and mushrooms till onion is tender add broth bring to a boil

    mix the cornstarch and water together add to broth mixture reduce heat to low add beef patties back in cover and let simmer for 10 minutes
