Ingredients For salisbury steak with french onion mushroom gravy

  • MEAT
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    white cooked rice
  • 1 lg
    egg yolk
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 clove
    garlic minced
  • 3 Tbsp
    fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp
    each worcestershire sauce and thyme
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • GRAVY
  • 2 lg
    onion thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 c
    fresh mushrooms chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 3 c
    beef broth
  • 1/2 c
    dry red wine
  • 1 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1 tsp
    each cider vinegar, salt and pepper

How To Make salisbury steak with french onion mushroom gravy

    Meat Mix all ingredients except olive oil together. Shape into 4 to 6 patties. Fry in olive oil until done.

    Gravy Heat butter in skillet. Add onions and garlic and cook over medium heat until they start to brown. Add 1/4 cup beef broth. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook 30 minutes adding more broth if needed. Stir in the mushrooms during the last 10 minutes.

    Add the wine and cook until reduced by half. Add the flour and stir vigorously to combine well. Slowly add the beef broth stirring until smooth and thickened. Stir in the tomato paste, vinegar, salt and pepper. Simmer about 10 minutes on low.

    Serve with mashed potatoes. Place the meat on plate top with mashed potatoes and gravy.
