Last Saturday here in Ohio we went to a local lake where they had a Polar Plunge. We watched my sweet friend Kaycee and her team jump into icy waters to raise money for the Special Olympics. Even a lady who was 85 yrs young participates every year to this great cause....such dedication!
Then we headed to Cleveland along with friends for some crazy snow tubing. It was an annual event for my Hiram College Alumni & we had the best chili hot dogs & fries while there that I had to come home & recreate!

I was listening to old school Atomic Dog; hence the name. LOL

1 tsp

Step-By-Step

Step 1 Direction Photo

1Brown your Italian sausage & ground beef and drain any excess grease. Then place in a large bowl. I put 2 teaspoons of chili powder on the meat while I was cooking it.

Step 2 Direction Photo

2Add all your canned ingredients except beans to Ninja Cooking System or Crock pot along with the browned meat. Use an emulsion hand blender to make this sauce finer in consistency.

Step 3 Direction Photo

3Add your water to the mixture, chopped onion and peppers and stir. Add the rest of your seasoning and let it cook down for a couple hours. Rinse and drain your kidney beans and add at any time. Taste to see if you need anymore seasoning.

Step 4 Direction Photo

4Grill your hot dogs and toast the buns and assemble with some delicious sauce.

Step 5 Direction Photo

5This chili sauce has a nice heat to it because of the cayenne & variety of chili powders.

Step 6 Direction Photo

6March 7th, 2016 --- I added some braised kraut, swiss cheese, onions & chili sauce.
