deconstructed stuffed cabbage

I came up with this recipe one evening while trying to figure out what to cook for dinner and this was the result. Yummy!!

Ingredients For deconstructed stuffed cabbage

  • 1 sm
    head of cabbage
  • 1 md
    yellow onion, rough chop
  • 1/2 sm
    bell pepper, any color, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    salt & pepper
  • 1 clove
    minced garlic
  • 1 lb
    browned ground chuck, do not drain
  • 2 c
    cooked rice, white or brown
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes, small, regular sized can.

How To Make deconstructed stuffed cabbage

  • 1
    Brown Ground Chuck, if not too much grease, do not drain. The grease helps to flavor the dish. A 1/4 cup is good enough to leave in the pan.

    Add the onions and peppers to pan and cook until tender, about 6-8 minutes Add the garlic and cook til tender, do not allow to burn, stir often.

    Add the cabbage and cook until tender crisp, or to your liking. Then add the cooked rice and heat everything through. Add remaining ingredients and stir together well.
