THE BEST SPAGHETTI SAUCE YOU'LL EVER EAT

I got this recipe more than 40 years ago from my mother-in-law. The flavor is unique and everyone to whom I've ever served it asks for the recipe. It's simple to put together and takes very little time. Just don't leave out the "unusual" ingredient or it won't be the "Best Spaghetti Sauce You'll Ever Eat."

Since the last time I made this sauce I developed Muscular Dystrophy and can no longer cook, so I don't have a picture.

Stove Top

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb
ground beef
1 Tbsp
olive oil
1 1/2 c
chopped onions
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 Tbsp
flour
1 c
bread and butter pickles, finely chopped
2 can(s)
tomatoes, diced (14.5 oz)
6 oz
tomato paste
1 tsp
salt
2 tsp
oregano, dried
2 tsp
basil, dried
1/4 tsp
black pepper
1/4 c
red wine, optional (do not use cooking wine)

Directions Step-By-Step

Brown ground beef and onion in olive oil. Add chopped garlic and fry a minute longer. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook 15 minutes more to thicken. Serve over hot spaghetti.
