I love anything that's easy and delicious. This pizza is great as an appetizer, lunch or a side dish at dinner. Trust me, everyone will want this recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients For smoked cheese and onion pizza

  • 2 md
    onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    pitted whole dates, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    pine (pignoli) nuts or slivered almonds
  • 1/2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c
    shredded smoked cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c
    shredded smoked gouda cheese
  • 1
    boboli pizza shell

How To Make smoked cheese and onion pizza

    Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

    In large skillet, cook onion in butter and oil over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Stir in sugar, vinegar and dates. Cook and stir for 5 minutes more or until onions are golden brown.

    Remove from heat and stir in nuts.

    In a bowl, combine cheeses; sprinkle evenly over pizza shell. Top with onion mixture.

    Place shell on an ungreased baking sheet or place directly on a pizza stone in oven.

    Bake for 8 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting (if you can wait that long.) Can be cut into squares or rectangles.
