Our family doesn't even eat the plain garlic bread. This is handed down from our Italian neighbors in the 60's.

Ingredients For herb cheese bread

  • 1/2 c
    butter or olivio spread
  • 1/2 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp
    parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried dill weed
  • 1-2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1
    loaf french or italian bread

How To Make herb cheese bread

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 400 F. Slice bread in 3/4" slices. Mix 1/4 c. parmesan with butter and herbs, set aside remaining cheese. Spread herb butter on one side of each slice of bread. As you spread, reassemble into a loaf shape. Lay loaf on a long piece of tin foil. Bring foil up along sides and pinch ends to make a "canoe" of foil. Spread top of loaf with some of the herb butter. Sprinkle remaining grated cheese on buttered top. Bake 10-15 minutes until cheese is a golden brown. Enjoy! Butter keeps well in fridge.
