If you want to make this sandwich from ingredients on hand but don't have both sauces, one or the other sauce alone will make a yummy sandwich variation.

Ingredients For grilled pesto italian sandwich

  • 1 pkg
    ( 6 oz ) sliced mozzarella cheese slices
  • 8
    italian bread slices
  • 1/4 c
    pizza sauce
  • 1/4 c
    pesto sauce
  • 1 pkg
    ( about 20 slices ) pepperoni slices
  • 1 pkg
    italian deli meat slices.

How To Make grilled pesto italian sandwich

    Arrange one slice of cheese slice on each of 4 slices of bread, spread evenly with pizza sauce. Top each with another slice of cheese, and spread pesto sauce evenly . Arrange pepperoni, and Italian deli meat slices , top with remaining cheese slices and remaining bread slices.

    Spread half of the butter on top of the sandwiches. Invert sandwiches onto hot nonstick skillet or griddle, cook on medium heat until browned. Spread remaining butter on ungrilled sides of sandwiches, turn and cook until browned. Serve immediately.
