Ingredients For praline french toast

  • 1 loaf
    cinnamon bread (with or without raisins), unsliced
  • 1/2 c
    pecan halves
  • 4 x lg
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, divided
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    maple syrup

How To Make praline french toast

    Cut bread 3/4" thick slices (to equal 8 bread slices from loaf).

    Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.

    In a shallow bowl, combine eggs, milk & extract.

    Preheat large nonstick skillet on medium high heat. Add 1 tbsp butter, swirl to melt. Dip 4 slices bread, one at a time, into egg mixture, coating both sides; remove & let excess drip off & add to skillet. Cook 3 minutes each side or until golden. Place in oven on serving platter to keep warm until the rest is ready. Repeat with remaining 4 slices & 1 tbsp butter.

    Add remaining butter & pecans to skillet. Cook & stir 3 minutes or until lightly toasted. Increase heat to high; add sugar & cook 2 minutes, stirring continually. Remove pan from heat; stir in syrup. Serve over french toast slices.
