Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled & deveined (tails on)
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, extra-virgin
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
- 4 stalks celery, sliced
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 32 ounces beef broth, reduced-sodium
- 3 cups water
- 16 ounces okra, sliced
- 1 pound crabmeat, fresh, cooked
- 3 cups white rice, cooked & hot
- 1 cup scallions (both greens & whites), sliced
- tabasco
- CAJUN SPICE:
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme, dried
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
How To Make shrimp & crab gumbo

Step 1In a small bowl, add all cajun spice ingredients; mix to combine & set aside.

Step 2Rinse shrimp & pat dry with paper towels. In a medium skillet, cook flour over medium heat, about 6 minutes or until browned, stirring frequently. Place in small bowl & set aside to cool.

Step 3In a dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, celery & garlic; cook & stir 5 minutes or until tender.

Step 4Slowly whisk 16 oz or 1/2 of broth into browned flour. Add flour/broth mixture, remaining broth, water & cajun spice to dutch oven. Stir in okra. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover & simmer 15 minutes.

Step 5Add shrimp; cook 3 minutes or until shrimp are opaque. Gently stir in crabmeat; cook until heated through.

Step 6To serve, serve over rice & garnish with scallions & tabasco sauce.
