Mom's Citrus Chicken with Rice

Marinate the chicken for 4 hours or over night.Drain the chicken and reserve the marinade.
In a Dutch oven or large pan brown the chicken on olive oil. Add onion and 1 cup of the marinade including the garlic.
When the onion is soft, add tomato sauce,spices,bay leaf, and wine.Add chicken broth,cover, and simmer for 30 minutes on low .
Add washed rice and simmer occasionally for another 30 to 45 minutes until the rice absorbs all of the liquid and is soft.Stir in thawed peas.
