Wouldn't this just be a whole lot easier for Thanksgiving for a small family, than cooking a huge turkey? Turkey in crock pot leaves much room for side dishes in oven! Time saved! I'm doing this next year for Thanksgiving!!!! (Ok maybe sooner!)

Ingredients For crock pot turkey breast & gravy

  • 6 - 7 lb
    turkey breast, bone-in
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter, unsalted
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped coarse
  • 1
    carrot, peeled, chopped coarse
  • 1 rib
    celery, chopped coarse
  • 6 clove
    garlic, peeled & smashed
  • 7 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    chicken broth, low salt
  • 1/2 c
    dry white wine
  • 2 sprig
    thyme, fresh
  • 1 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • salt & pepper, to taste

How To Make crock pot turkey breast & gravy

    Pat turkey dry with paper towels. Remove skin from breast & cut into 4 equal pieces. Cook turkey skin in 12" skillet over medium heat until browned, 8 - 10 minutes. Transfer skin to crock pot. Pour off all but 3 Tbsp fat from skillet. Add butter, onion, carrot, celery & garlic & cook until vegetables are browned, 8 - 10 minutes. Whisk in flour & cook, whisking constantly, until golden, about 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in broth & wine & bring to boil. Transfer gravy, thyme sprigs & bay leaves to crock pot.

    Season turkey with salt & pepper & place meat side up in crock pot. Coveer & cook on LOW until breast registers 160 degrees F., 5 - 6 hours.

    Transfer turkey to carving board, tent loosely with foil & let rest 15 - 20 minutes. Pour gravy through fine mesh strainer into serving bowl; discard solids. Stir 1 tsp thyme into gravy & season with salt & pepper. Carve turkey & serve with gravy.
