Mama's Story

Made this a lot at one time when I caught the chicken leg quarters on sale.

Ingredients

7
chicken leg quarters
1
bottle bbq sauce (your choice)
(season to taste)

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Wash and season leg quarters lightly (because BBQ sauce will be salty). Place in crockpot with largest legs at the bottom; smaller legs at the top. Do not add water (I sprinkle a little minced onion on top of mine). Place top on crockpot and cook 5 hours on HIGH. Pour off broth. Cover chicken with barbecue sauce and cook on LOW about 15 more minutes. Turn off crockpot.
2
(I use an oval 6qt. crock pot)

Mama Dee, I make a Coke BBQ chicken. Might work with this also. My recipe is 4 leg quarters, 1 1/2 C. Catsup 1 T minced garlic and 1 12oz Coke (no diet). Boil ckn, drain. Mix catsup, garlic and Coke, pour over chicken and simmer about 2 hrs. Think you could adjust the time to simmer in the crock pot. This is really tasty, especially over mashed potatoes! (They call me Mamabennie at work since I'm the oldest one in the office.)

Hello from Mama Dee, Mama Bennie:)...your recipe sounds wonderful...I could adjust it....I'm going to search google for a conversion chart...

    found it busycooks.about.com/library...

From the chart I could probably do about 4 hours on the high setting or 8 hours on low....Thank you for the recipe...putting it in my file to try....I love good gravy over mashed potatoes!
