I've had this recipe forever and don't even remember where it came from, but it's basic and simple and tasty. Try it--you'll like it!

Ingredients

2 c
elbow macaroni
3 Tbsp
butter
1 medium
green pepper, chopped
1
celery stalk, thinly sliced
3 Tbsp
all purpose flour
3/4 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
pepper
1 1/2 c
milk
1 large
can chunk chicken (or one large chicken breast, cooked and cut in small pieces)
4 oz
cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions Step-By-Step

Prepare macaroni as directed; drain & keep warm. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add green pepper and celery. Cook until tender, about 20-25 minutes.

Stir in flour, salt and pepper until blended. Gradually stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly until sauce is slightly thickened.

Stir in chicken and cheese just until cheese is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in the macaroni and serve.
