(14.5) chicken broth
all veg shortening ( crisco)
cooked, diced chicken
1Melt butter in dutch oven. Whisk in 1/4 cup flour.stir, making a roux. Lower heat and add all milk, except 1/2 cup. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
2place 2 cups flour in a lg bowl. Cut in shortening with 2 knives, until size of peas. Stir in chicken broth and mix until dough leaves sides of bowl.
3Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead a few times and roll out to about an 1/8 of an inch. Cut into strips,about 2 x1 inch.Return broth to a boil and add dumplings, one at a time.
4Cover;reduce heat to low. Simmer 10 min, stir occasionaly. add pepper, milk and chicken. Cook about 5 more min.
