This has amazing flavor and everyone loves this! Teens and little ones love this. A great family meal. You can make this ahead of time and then pop it in the oven when your ready. I have used 1/2 cup of diced onions instead of mushrooms if I didn't have mushrooms. I have used more Italian sausage and a little ground beef as well. Depending on what I have. This is such an easy, filling and delicious recipe and I hope you and yours enjoy it as much as we do. I always serve this with garlic bread and a salad.

How To Make winning spaghetti pie

  • 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook spaghetti noodles according to package. Drain. While spaghetti noodles are still warm, not hot, stir in the parmesan cheese, egg and butter and noodles in a bowl. In a sprayed 10 inch pie pan, pat the noodle mixture up around the sides as well to form a crust. Pour the cottage cheese over the crust.
  • 2
Brown the meat, sausage, and mushrooms together in a large skillet. Drain off the fat when browned. Add to the meat mixture the tomato sauce, garlic powder, oregano and 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3
Pour meat mixture over the cottage cheese. Try to cover all the noodles with sauce so it stays moist. Bake for 30 minutes. Take out of the oven and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top and put back in the oven until cheese melts. About 5 minutes.
