I made up this recipe when I found out that my family didn't really care for canned sloppy joe mix and I said "I can do better". This can be made with either ground beef or ground turkey and is wonderful wither way. ENJOY

Ingredients For the cooking witch's homemade sloppy joes

  • 1 lb
    ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 sm
    onion, chopped
  • 1 sm
    red pepper, chopped
  • 1/3 c
    celery, chopped
  • 1 can
    tomato soup
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp
    yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 tsp
    black pepper

How To Make the cooking witch's homemade sloppy joes

    Brown beef or turkey, onions, peppers, and celery until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are soft. Drain.

    Mix together remainder of ingredients in a measuring cup. Place all ingredients into a heavy pot and mix well. simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

    serve over hamburger buns or baked potatoes. Add parmesan cheese to the top, if desire.

    This recipe can be doubled or tripled and put into a crockpot.Cook on low for 3 hours.
