Sweet and Sour Meatballs

this recipe was first made for my open house...and family and friends have requested it ever since. In my opinion,boiling the meatballs removes a lot of the grease,and is a great alternative to baking or frying them. And the gingersnaps give the sauce a real kick.

Ingredients

MEATBALLS

5 lb
ground chuck
1 c
bread crumbs
1 pkg
dry onion soup mix
3/4 c
chopped onion,dehydrated
3/4 c
water

SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

1 can(s)
tomato paste,small
2 can(s)
tomatoes,chopped
1 lb
brown sugar
1 tsp
salt
1/2 c
lemon juice
1/2 c
vinegar
10
gingersnaps,crushed fine

Directions Step-By-Step

FOR MEATBALLS:
Heat large pot of water to boiling. Meanwhile combine all meatball ingredients. Roll into 1" balls. Drop balls about 20 at a time into boiling water. When they float to the top,boil for 1 minute.Remove and drain. replace back in pot or put in slow cooker.

FOR SAUCE:
Mix together all ingredients except gingersnaps. cook half hour add gingersnaps. combine thoroughly. Add to meatballs either in slowcooker on low setting or in pot on stovetop on very low . stir occasionally. cook about 3 hours
