This is another recipe from way back when my Philip was alive. One of his favorites. A blend of ingredients that satisfy the taste buds and send you back for more. He never had just one plate. Its an easy recipe that doesnt warrant standing by the stove all day. Great for a quick meal when unannounced company shows or just for something truly yummy for the family.
Combine all sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside
Heat about 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet on medium heat. Add beef and stir fry until it is tender and cooked to your liking. Then place beef on a covered plate and keep warm.
Heat another tablespoon of oil in the wok or skillet and add onion. Cook about 5 min. Now add broccoli to pan along with a 1/2 c water. Bring this to a boil and then cover, reduce heat and allow to simmer for 3 or 4 minutes to desired tenderness.
Return the beef to the wok or skillet and add the sauce mixture. Add grated ginger root. Stir non stop until sauce thickens
Serve over white rice or noodles. For a bit of a twist top off with some sesame seeds
