I forget where I got this recipe but I tell you my family was glad that I did! It is simple and tastes great! And it is similar to lasagna without all the work! I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients For spaghetti pie

  • CRUST
  • 6 oz
    spaghetti
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 2
    eggs, well beaten
  • FILLING
  • 1 c
    cottage cheese
  • MEAT TOPPING
  • 1 lb
    ground beef or bulk italian sausage (i use sometimes half of each)
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/4 c
    green pepper
  • 1
    8 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1
    6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • CHEESE TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese (2 oz.)

How To Make spaghetti pie

    Cook the spaghetti according to package directions, drain. (3 cups) Stir butter or margarine into hot spaghetti. Stir in parmesan cheese and eggs. Form spaghetti mixture into a crust in a buttered 10" pie plate.

    Spread cottage cheese over the spaghetti crust.

    In skillet cook ground beef, onion and green pepper till vegetables are tender and meat is brown. Drain off excess fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, paste, oregano, sugar, and garlic salt. Heat through.

    Turn mixture into crust. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese atop. Bake 5 minutes longer, till cheese melts.

    Serve with garlic bread and a fresh tossed salad. Enjoy!
