Ingredients For sloppy joes

  • 1 can
    tomato soup
  • 1 can
    golden mushroom soup
  • 1 can
    tomato paste
  • 2 lb
ground meat of your choice - turkey, chicken, pork, beef, etc...or a mix works well
  • 1 md
    sweet onion
  • dash
    seasoning to taste
  • 1/2 lb
    fresh portabello mushrooms stems removed

How To Make sloppy joes

  • 1
Brown ground meat(s) of your choice until no pink is showing. Drain and rinse with warm water.
  • 2
Dice and sautee mushrooms and onion. Add ground meat and seasoning to suit your tastes. (A dash or two of hot sauce, Lawry's season salt and Greek seasoning are what I use). Combined the onion, seasoning and meat well over medium heat.
  • 3
Add cans of tomato soup, golden mushroom soup and tomato paste to the meat and onion mixture. Stir until well blended. Heat until the mixture just starts to bubble.
  • 4
Remove from heat and serve on a bun - My children like it over mashed potatoes or pasta - OR - you can place the mixture in a crock pot and simmer on low for 2 - 4 hours. This marries the flavors and intensifies them more. Serves well with shredded cheese or sour cream on top.
