Rose Mary's Story

I made these steaks for dinner in the microwave because both of the larger eyes on the stove were being occupied by other foods. I didn't want to use the broiler in my double oven, so this was my choice.

The steaks were tender & juicy & cooked just right. My microwave is a GE Profile Advantium Microwave & can double as a regular oven also. It makes perfect steaks every time, I have used it quite a few times before, also have made cookies & biscuits in it sometimes on the Oven Bake mode.

Since the steaks turned out so perfect for us, I thought I would show how great they looked.

Ingredients

2 lb
rib eye steaks bone in, (1 pound each- 1 inch thick)
1 Tbsp
steak seasoning (or use seasoning of your choice)
1 Tbsp
granulated garlic powder
non stick cooking spray or olive oil

The time to cook these steaks to a medium rare is 17 minutes, but I rounded it up to the next higher time in the above time. The settings are automatically built into the memory of the microwave, so you just select the time and size of the steak you are cooking, it doesn't get much more simple than that. You can also add additional time if you prefer it less than this. It cooks both the upper and bottom of the steak at the same times and tells you when to flip on the display panel. It comes out very moist, tender and juicy. Add a couple of sides and you have a great dinner in no time.

Spray or brush both sides of steak with cooking spray or olive oil, then season both steaks on each side with about half of seasoning for each steak.Allow seasoning to penetrate steak, and it comes to room temperature before placing in microwave.

Spray metal pan with cooking spray then add the steaks. Preheating is not needed.

Press the speedcook menu, then turn the dial to FOOD MENU, AND SELECT THE MEAT YOU ARE COOKING, THEN CHOOSE THE THICKNESS OF THE CUT OF MEAT. Then press the enter button, and the steak begins to cook for the preprogrammed time needed for the steak. The lower element cooks at HIGH, & the upper element cooks at MEDIUM. IT DISPLAYS WHEN TO FLIP THE STEAKS over.

Continue to cook till desired doneness is reached. Remove from microwave, allow to rest for about 5 minutes, then serve with your favorite side items. As a change from Baked potatoes we had Country Fried potatoes with Red & Jalapeno Peppers without the heat of course along with Boiled Corn and Sweet & Sour Cole Slaw.

Thanks so much Judy, but the Microwave I have is the key element to this Steak. It is a GE Profile Advantium that doubles as an Oven or a Microwave, and I often use it, when I have a lot going on at one time. Thanks for the compliment though. Have a nice day.

I love the picture Cindy, it really looks like a famous classic picture of yesteryear. Thanks for sharing it. Wow there is a 17 year difference between your dad & his brother, there is a 16 year difference between my baby sister & I. There were 9 in between me and my baby sister, 8 boys and 1 other girl. I also have a 12 inch cast iron skillet with the grill grate that I use sometimes when the stove top is not full I have a 15 inch Cast iron like the one my mama used when I was a kid & she made corn Bread in it, 8 inch 12 inch plain 12 inch with the grill marks, a corn Pone one and a 7 inch with dividers for sliced corn bread, combine them all together and they become quite heavy that is why I did the steaks in the microwave I keep them all in the top of the oven since basically all it is really good for is grilling, all other items cooked in there are too close to the heating elements. I used my Grill grated skillet to make the GRILLED STOVE TOP RIB EYE STEAK-BONE IN, I also have a cast iron Griddle iron that has grates on one side and is smooth on the other, it fits over one side of the stove, and don't use it too often because of the clean up afterwards. smile I love using cast iron. It is a painting of my Uncle Lem (my Dad's oldest brother)...my cousin painted it from an old photo of her Dad (Lem). The photo was taken when he was 19 yrs old and my Dad at the time was "2".

There is 17 years difference between them....and 5 more inbetween ;o)♥

I have a cast iron skillet with the grill grates and in a pinch I use it to cook a steak or burgers on top of the stove.
