Meatloaf with a Tomato-Sweet Pea Sauce ala Terwilliger

This was my mother's recipe and has been used by family members for over 50 years.

Ingredients

1 lb
ground beef
1 c
yellow onions, chopped
1 large
egg
1 c
bread crumbs, seasoned
1/16 tsp
kosher salt, to taste
1/16 tsp
black pepper, ground, to taste
16 oz
tomato sauce
14 1/2 oz
green sweet peas, canned drained

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a large bowl, add ground beef, onion, bread crumbs, egg, salt and pepper.
Wet hands with water and mix ingredients in bowl to combine well.

Turn meat mixture out of bowl into a baking pan and form into a loaf.
Place in preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
Pour Tomato Sauce over meat loaf and return to oven for 10 minutes.
Pour drained peas over top of meat loaf.
Return to oven for 5 minutes longer or until meat is cooked through.
