This chili can be as spicy as you like by using mild, medium, or hot salsa. It is great served over brown rice, with cornbread, or with tortilla chips and sour cream!

Ingredients For mary's chili

  • 2 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 1 lg
    green pepper, chopped
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 can
    diced tomotoes(14-15oz can), undrained
  • 1 jar
    salsa, mild
  • 2 pkg
    old elpaso chili seasoning
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 2 can
    dark red kidney beans(14-15oz can), drained
  • 2 can
    pinto beans(14-15oz can), drained
  • 1 pt
    sour cream
  • 1 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 bunch
    scallions, chopped

How To Make mary's chili

  • 1
    Brown hamburger with onion, green pepper and garlic.

    In a large soup pot, place the next 6 ingredients and stir to mix well.
  • 3
    Drain hamburger mixture and add to pot, stir to mix.
  • 4
    Cook on low for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • 5
    Garnish with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese and scallions!
