Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! One of Dad's favorite is Salisbury Steak! Now there are many options to change it up a little bit.

Ingredients For french onion salisbury steak w/ cheese toasts

  • STEAK:
  • 1 1/4 lb
    ground beef, leanest you can get
  • 1/4 c
    parsley
  • 2
    scallions, chopped (both greens & whites)
  • 1 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/ tsp
    pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • SAUCE:
  • 2 md
    onions, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1 tsp
    all purpose flour
  • 16 oz
    beef broth, reduced sodium
  • 1/2 c
    red wine, dry
  • 3/4 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • CHEESE TOASTS:
  • 4 slice
    french baguette, cut 1/2" thick
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, unsalted, room temperature
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 pinch
    paprika
  • 1/4 c
    swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbsp
    parmesan cheese
  • REMAINING INGREDIENTS:
  • parsley
  • parmesan cheese, fresh, shredded

How To Make french onion salisbury steak w/ cheese toasts

    STEAK: Combine beef, parsley, scallions, salt & pepper. Divide evenly into 4 oval patties (about 1" thick). Place 2 tbsp flour in shallow dish or bowl & dredge each patty in flour.

    Heat oil in a saute pan over medium high heat. Add patties & saute 3 minutes each side or until browned. Remove from pan.

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

    SAUCE: Add onions & sugar to same (uncleaned) pan & cook 5 minutes. Stir in garlic & paste; saute until paste begins to brown, 1 minute. Sprinkle with flour; cook 1 minute. Stir in broth, wine salt & thyme.

    CHEESE TOASTS: Place bread on baking sheet. Combine butter, garlic & paprika; spread on one side of each bread slice. Combine cheeses & sprinkle evenly over butter. Bake until cheese is bubbly, 10 - 15 minutes.

    Return patties to pan; bring sauce to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low, cover & simmer 10 minutes.

    TO SERVE: Serve steak on the cheese toasts with the sauce poured over & garnish with parsley & parmesan & enjoy!
