Offered as part of my Ground Beef Favorites Collection from First Ladies. This is purported to be the favorite dish of Mrs. George C. Wallace, Governor Of Alabama Photo by Taste of Home I found these recipes in an old cookbook which has no name or any identifying labels.

Ingredients For first ladies / beef noodle casserole

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • garlic to taste
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 dash
    pepper
  • 2 can
    (8 oz. ea) tomato sauce
  • 1 pkg
    (7 oz) flat noodles
  • 6 md
    green onions and tops, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1/2 c
    grated sharp cheese

How To Make first ladies / beef noodle casserole

    Cook beef in butter until crumbly; add garlic, salt, sugar, pepper, and tomato sauce. Cook over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Cook noodles according to package directions; drain. Mix onions and tops with cream cheese and sour cream. After meat sauce and noodles have cooled, grease a 2 quart casserole dish.

    Alternate layers of noodles , cheese mixture and meat sauce in casserole dish. Repeat until used. Sprinkle top with grated cheese.

    Bake for 15 to 30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly, in a 350 F oven.
